Signs it's time
How do you know your pool needs resurfacing?
Every pool finish wears out. Florida's sun, heat, year-round use and constant chemistry swings speed that up. If you're seeing two or more of these, it's time for a resurfacing estimate:
Finish options
Plaster vs. quartz vs. pebble: which pool finish is right for you?
There's no single "best" finish. It comes down to budget, how long you plan to stay in the home, and the look and feel you want. Here's the honest comparison we walk homeowners through:
Plaster (marcite)
The classic smooth white finish that gives water a bright, light-blue look. Great value, but more prone to staining and etching over time.
Quartz aggregate
Plaster blended with quartz for extra strength and stain resistance, available in many colors. A popular middle ground for Florida pools.
Pebble
Small polished stones for a natural, textured look and the longest life. Costs more up front, but lasts the longest.
💡 Lifespans are typical ranges from published 2026 Florida resurfacing guides and depend heavily on water chemistry and care. Consistent weekly service is the single best way to protect a new finish.
The process
How long does pool resurfacing take?
Most residential resurfacing projects take about 1–2 weeks from drain to swim-ready, depending on the finish, the prep required and the weather. Here's what happens:
Inspection & written estimate
We assess the surface, tile, coping and equipment, talk through finish options, and put the scope and price in writing.
Drain & surface prep
The pool is drained safely and the old surface is prepared, removing loose or hollow material so the new finish bonds properly.
Repairs, tile & details
Cracks, fittings and any damaged tile or coping are addressed before the finish goes on, so problems aren't sealed in.
New finish applied
Your chosen plaster, quartz or pebble finish is applied and the pool is refilled promptly to cure evenly.
Startup chemistry
The first weeks matter most. We carefully balance the water and brush the new surface to protect your investment.

Cost
How much does pool resurfacing cost?
Published 2026 guides for Florida put most residential resurfacing projects at roughly $4,000–$8,000 for plaster, $8,000–$14,000 for quartz and $10,000–$18,000 for pebble. Pool size, surface condition, tile and coping work, and access all move the number.

Common questions
Pool resurfacing FAQ
Typically every 7–12 years for plaster, 12–18 years for quartz and 15–25 years for pebble. Florida's heat, UV and year-round use, plus poorly balanced water, can shorten those ranges. Well-maintained finishes last longest.
Not immediately. The pool is refilled right after the finish is applied, then the water needs careful startup balancing. We'll tell you exactly when it's ready. Following the startup plan protects the new surface.
Resurfacing replaces the interior finish. A renovation can also include new tile, coping, decking or equipment. Many owners do both at once to save on draining and labor. See pool renovations.
In Florida, pool repair and resurfacing work should be done by a state-licensed pool/spa contractor. Community Pools LLC is licensed under CPC1459841, which you can verify at MyFloridaLicense.com.
Most early problems trace back to startup chemistry, water balance or prep. That's why we handle startup chemistry carefully and brush the new finish during the first weeks.
